Hey everybody, it’s Dr. Davenport, the DPC guru, talking to you guys again about a new medical device that my wife, Christine, and I have started using.
My wife and I have had repetitive interactions with some of our patients and other people have been using these new technologies to feel better and to treat medical conditions. We also have gotten to the point where we feel if a patient can benefit from this and if we don’t even offer them the option, then we’re really doing a disservice to the patient. Certainly, there are many therapies that those of us in medicine are unaware of, and we haven’t used in mainstream care, but that doesn’t mean they are illegitimate options. So my wife and I have both been wearing the X-39 patch and have had various benefits.
I personally am feeling a left hip stiffness and a right neck stiffness improve when I wear the patch when I don’t wear the patch those are the days I say to myself, “Why is my neck so stiff today?” And I think, darn it, I forgot to wear my patch today. My wife is having various benefits as well. As far as some of our patients, one of my patients is legally blind in one of his eyes and his eyesight is improving. He is still legally blind in that eye, but it is improving and even his eye doctor wanted to know what he was doing. Also we’ve had several patients benefit from aches and pains, from problems that have just been an issue for months or years that have not ever cleared up.
The challenge with the patch, actually from a medical standpoint, is if I recommend it to a patient, I really actually don’t even know what the benefits are going to be. The good thing is you up-regulate stem cells. The bad thing is, you really have no control over what the stem cells are going to do. Stem cells go to areas of inflammation. And so one person may have more balance in their psychiatric status. One patient may have more cognitive function and mental acuity. One patient shoulder might improve. We’ve had patients with visual improvements. We’ve had patients with digestive improvements. Certainly we may think, “Oh, well, we’re doing this to help the person’s knee.” But then they may actually get other benefits instead. So it’s been very interesting and a lot of fun helping patients with various problems and seeing how they improve once they start using the X-39 patch.
At any rate, this is interesting new technology. The technology itself has been around for over 20 years. The patch itself has really begun to increase in use over the last decade. Many of you may have even heard of people using it. And it’s time for me as a physician to believe that it’s okay for me to talk about non-pharmaceutical therapies. I’ve always felt this was important. And I did know that fact, but still it’s a bridge that is sometimes difficult to crossover. So I wanted to introduce you all to this concept. And I would love to talk to you more about it at your convenience.
